“I’m currently using a pair of Ollyskins 5892 Trilaminate Angling Chest Waders which are attached to a pair of the Grubs Ceramic neoprene lined Wellingtons.
Whilst my Ollyskins 2788 PVC Angling Chest Waders have lasted 4 seasons of continuous abuse whilst fishing in multiple climates (and are still going strong), I was tired of cold feet on long evenings and decided to invest in an alternative wader to improve the comfort.
Ollyskins already manufacturer many Industrial Chest Waders and this Wader is a variation on one of those models, and something they have been looking to develop for the Sea Fishing market sector. These new waders are very comfortable when worn and can be customised to suit all wearers as they are produced in the UK, in East Yorkshire.
Produced from a durable Butyl Trilaminate membrane fabric with SeamDRY seams, they are very strong throughout. I have neoprene reinforced knee pads inserted which are placed under a separate butyl membrane and help with comfort and protection when kneeling. #1
There are two chest pockets – one internal, and one external, which come in handy. Since this pair was produced, and with feedback to Ollyskins, a handwarmer pocket will also be available on this model when it is officially launched. #2
Whilst I have only used these Waders over the 2023/2024 winter period, they have been through some serious weather conditions and worked fantastically as they should.
The Grubs neoprene lined Ceramic boots are the deal breaker for me - they will be treated to some studs in the future and the sole of the boot is substantial enough to take them, providing me with additional grip on the rocks when needed. #3
The fitting process was quick and easy with Ollyskins, and turnaround was within 2 weeks which was a lot quicker than expected - a fantastic service as usual”.
Additional Notes from Ollyskins
#1 The kneepad feature is currently being redeveloped and may not be on the initial models.
#2 We are also working to add a vertical TIZIP zipper to this Wader model with the handwarmer pocket on either side.
#3 We may opt to use the Muck Boot Neoprene Lined Wellington, but the Grubs boot is still an option if required.
